Dear Patron,
In this spot that normally is given over to biographical information about the Music Director, I have opted to write a letter to you. First, what, if anything, new can be said of one who has been doing this job for 19 years other than non-musical life events such as births of grandchildren, anniversaries and such? So as not to bore you with that which you probably already know, I want to thank you for your patronage. If it weren’t for your support, we would not exist, bringing great music and outstanding performances to this Southeast community.
Second, I would like to say that we are again fortunate to have Keitaro Harada, as our Principal Guest Conductor, this year opening the season. Kei, is an extremely talented, gifted, and creative artist who brings a most enlivening and remarkable dynamic to our concert experience, and I am sure that you will be delighted with any performance of which he is a part.
And third, upon welcoming you to our 19th season, this gives me an opportunity to encourage you to begin expectantly wondering and talking about our 20th Anniversary Season. This present season will be, we believe, a magnificent and exciting prelude to our 20th Celebration. So keep your eyes peeled, and your ears open. And..... spread the word! I do not know if it is true that, “it takes a village to raise a child.” But I do know as absolute fact that it takes a community to have a symphony orchestra. So consider even now joining a really great group of people who enjoy having fun together called the Symphony Association.
Most Sincerely,
Roger W. Bayes
Music Director
